Steam Turbine CHP Station STORA ENSO UETERSEN 1:

Process Description:

  • The existing heating plant contains 2 high-pressure steam generators, the live steam of which were formerly fed into an extraction-condensing steam turbine for generating electricity.
After the retirement and dismounting of the steam turbo set with the ancilliary systems and the piping systems, Stora Enso decided at the end of 2006 to install a new steam turbo set.
  • For this purpose the existing heating plant was extended with an extraction-back-pressure steam turbo set. The steam turbo set was installed downstream of the two steam generators and the exhaust steam supplies the process steam for the paper machines.
  • Because of the economic benefits, a used steam turbo set has been ordered, which fits to the existing steam data and allows future extensions. The used steam turbo set has after the purchase been modernised and retrofitted.

Project Scope:

Phase 1:

  • Search for and Evaluation of new Steam Turbo Sets and used Steam Turbo Sets including the investigation of the actual condition (technical assessment of condition) of the used Steam Turbo Sets and including the assessment of the necessary modernisation-, repair- and retrofitting measures and determination, which components and systems can be reused.

Phase 2:

  • Extension of the existing heating plant with a used extraction-back-pressure steam turbo set of type SIEMENS Görlitz BEG28 (DDR-turbine from VEB Görlitzer Maschinenbau).
Based on the assessment of condition in Phase 1 it has been determined in detail and specified, which modernisation-, repair- and retrofitting measures at the used steam turbine, gear box, generator and of the reuseable components and systems had to be executed.
It showed, which components and systems had to be replaced and which hydraulic control- and closed-loop control systems are replaced by electrical components and which repair mesaures had to be executed.
The entire electrical systems of the steam turbo set including generator protection, synchronisation and excitation was replaced and delivered according to state of the art technology.
Furthermore the entire turbine control system was replaced by a new control system and the complete electrical control of the electrical systems including generator was installed.
Finally the entire instrumentation was replaced as well.
  • New pipe systems with tie-in of the existing steam generators and tie-in to the process steam system
  • Extension of water treatment plant
  • Extension and adaptation of the foundation based on the existing table foundation for the old extraction-condensing steam turbo set
